Coordinator for Food Safety in BiH, Mario Perc, announced that the preparations for forming of State Agency for Food Safety were underway. The Agency will work in accordance with the Law on Food Safety, which was passed in 2004 and it should issued permits for import of food to BIH.
Law on food safety clearly defined that the food that contains genetically modified elements is not allowed on the market of BIH. This law applies to food for people, not to fodder.
The Agency will cooperate with the Administration of Protection of Herbs and with the Veterinarian Office of BiH and will completely secure control of food, from the seeds to the final product that becomes property of the buyer.
