Public Enterprise BH Elektroprivreda with the revenue of 944 million KM in 2009, was awarded the prestigious award “ Top 100 of B&H." This award has been around for38 years and as always organized by the Poslovne novine (Business newspaper) and the Privredna štampa (Economic press). This year the awards were presented to the leading companies of B&H in 2009.

In addition to the traditional list of "Top 100 in Bosnia,", some lists were compiled naming large, medium and small enterprises, which are ranked by total revenue, exports, net income and investment in 2009.

Second place in the category of the most successful companies according to total revenue in 2009, won ASA Prevent Group Sarajevo, which last year operated with 610 million, and third place went to BH Telecom Sarajevo, with 605 million KM of total revenues.
Dragan Vrankic, Deputy Chair of the Minister of Finance and Treasury, presented the awards and said that the priority is raising competitiveness and creating a positive environment for investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, enlarging the GDP solving that way, one of the biggest national problems - unemployment.

"After several years of economic recovery and progress, unfortunately, the world crisis arrived that took its toll on our country as well. All the main economic indicators for last year were negative, however without a collapse of underlying financial sectors - the banking sector. After the economic slowdown, the beginning of this year gives way to hope, since most of the macroeconomic indicators are positive. However, the optimism, given the many risks, should not lull us into false sense of security. The fact that we signed an arrangement with the IMF, for which we set the terms - reducing public expenditure and increasing investment, clearly indicates that we know where and how we want to go, giving out a bright beam of light to investors - that the country's economy is moving in the right direction, " said Vrankic.

As in previous years, these prestigious listings are made on the basis of questionnaires that were voluntarily filled and sealed, the seal and signature by directors of each ranked firm. All those companies who voluntarily submitted the requested information were listed at the “Poslovne novine”.

Achievements in the category of the most successful export in 2009 went to ASA Prevent Group Sarajevo (287,010,617 KM), Aluminj Mostar (259,254,090 KM) and Energoinvest Sarajevo (198,363,331 KM). The award was presented by Veselin Poljasevic president of the Foreign Trade Chamber of B&H.

The first three big companies according to their net profit in 2009 are BH Telecom Sarajevo (144,208,266 KM), Telecommunications of the Republika Srpska, Banja Luka (102,633,216 KM) and Elektroprivreda B&H Sarajevo (61,903,514 KM). Awards were presented by Remzo Baksic Ali, director of the Association of BH Employers, which is this year’s partner to the event "Top 100 in Bosnia."

“Given the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a lot to chose from when it comes to successful companies, businessmen and managers, we are committed to be partners of the project because this is the only selection of businessmen according to the clearly defined criteria - public data, it has a long tradition and has gained trust of businessmen from the both entities – the event is of national importance. Furthermore, all companies voluntarily participate in the ranking, the inclusion on a list is free of charge - so that everyone stands an equal chance of winning. Promotion of successful businessmen and companies is interesting and economically important, with an objective eye on the situation in BH economy, "said Baksic.

Awards for the largest investors in the past year received Raiffeisen Bank, Sarajevo (262,140,194 KM), JP BiH Sarajevo (177,543,485 KM) and BH Telecom Sarajevo (140,013,874 KM).

For the highest turnover in 2009, the first three places were occupied by Bosnalijek Sarajevo (109,600,000 KM), Sarajevski kiseljak Kiseljak (69,268,227 KM) and Podravka Sarajevo (66.351 million KM).

In the category for the most successful exporters in 2009 the winners were Bosnalijek Sarajevo (39.7 million KM), Mann + Hummel BA Tešanj (35 million KM) and Metalno Zenica (18 million KM).

The best medium-size companies ranked by the net profit in 2009 were Bosnalijek Sarajevo (nine million KM), Sarajevo kiseljak Kiseljak (8,065,116 KM) and Unitic Sarajevo (3,896,099 km).

The best medium-size companies in terms of investments in 2009 were BBI Real Estate Sarajevo (34,536,944 KM), Xella BH Tuzla (15,763,681 KM), Hotel Tuzla (15 million KM).

Small firms whose exports were the highest in 2009 were TEM Mandeks Siroki Brijeg (2.45 million KM), Adonis Furniture Export-Import Mostar (699,341 KM) and Artisan Tešanj (679,371 KM).

"Silver Seal", a special recognition by the "Poslovne novine" for the overall business results, which include a successful privatization, the contribution to the development of BH economy and employment, contribution to the local community and bringing technology to the highest European standard, was awarded to the company Xella BH doo Tuzla.

The "Silver Seal" was presented to the Director, Emir Kadric by Avdo Causevic, Director of Privredna štama.

The Management of Privredna štampa and Poslovne novine this year has improved the event " Top 100 in Bosnia " through partnerships with the Association of Employers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BH Foreign Trade Chamber, Chamber of Commerce and the Federal marketing agency Via Media.

Sanja Bogdanovic, executive director at the newspaper Privredna štampa, pointed out that every year they try to take quality of the event to the next level.
"Last year we listed small and medium enterprises by number of employees, and this year, based on the Law for audit and accounting, we introduced a special list of small and medium enterprises for all categories with an objective to compile a list of 100 the best large, medium and small businesses. Small companies are the driving force behind economy. Another novelty is that, in collaboration with marketing agency Via Media, a visual identity was created, symbolizing progress and innovation, "she said.
