Visitors to one of the most beautiful and biggest waterfalls in Bosnia - Skakavac will now have easier and simpler access to this attractive tourist destination.

The Cantonal Public Institution for protected areas says that the road from Nahorevo to Skakavac has been reconstructed to suit the modern needs, important to all who come here but also to ambulance cars and fire brigades.

This attractive and interesting waterfall that radiates beauty is located 12 km north of Sarajevo, overlooking the village of Nahorevo. The waterfall is a real tourist attraction, 98 meters high fitting perfectly into the landscape of exceptional beauty.

The surrounding area is covered with forests, dominated by spruce-fir and beech-fir trees while spruce trees sprout from the steep slopes.

Shallow carbonate soils, close to the waterfall, are covered with thermophile forest life and thickets of red elm and autumn moor grass, hornbeam and ash trees. Especially interesting vegetation on the rocks around the waterfall is abundant in endemic and rare specimens.

This remarkable waterfall near Sarajevo is of the tourist’s favorites.
