Banovici heating system: The project worth 13 mil EUR

A techno-economic feasibility project for heating system of Banovici, one of the priorities of the local administration and worth around 13 million EUR, is now completed, although the funds will be planned later.

"We'll find ways to solve the financial issues of this project that is very attractive to investors. So far, we have not ruled out the possibility of obtaining some financial resources from investment funds that deal with environment protection as well as help from the government. If the financial situation in the world says otherwise, there is always a possibility of lending, which in this case is justified since we are talking about upgrading heating systems, " as quoted by the Municipality Banovici.

In the incoming days the study is revised, followed by the remaining necessary project documentation. The project aims to achieve high-quality, reliable and long-term heat supply with an acceptable price and the inclusion of the entire city district. The heating zone will have installed modern solid boilers with a high degree of efficiency and flue gas filtering. As the result , many furnaces will shut down, improving the air quality and living conditions of the citizens.

Similar projects across Bosnia, testify of coal as being the best heating solution in terms of supply, mine proximity and prices, since coal does not cost much.

Banovici heating system also comprises installation of new heating stations and repair of the existing ones. The project’s first stage relates to installation of a new 20MW boiler,that should with the existing one of approximately 11,6MW meet the heating needs of the city.

Implementation of the first stage is feasible and grounded in realistic expectations, while the second stage cannot be implemented without the first. For the second stage of the project 14.849880 KM is necessary to cover the heating surface of 352.201 SM.
