Energy: massive interest of the Chinese in the regional countries

Chinese investors, increasingly interested in the countries of the region, particularly in the energy sector, have visited Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia on numerous occasions.
As for Bosnia, Chinese are already here, in the energy sector of Republika Srpska, constructing the thermal power station Stanari near Doboj. It is an investment worth 400 million EUR. Judging by the numerous meetings they are having these days with Federal officials, Chinese companies are preparing the ground for the Federal energy sector, that they plan to invest in.
At a recent meeting with federal prime minister, Mustafa Mujezinovic representatives of Chinese Energy Corporation China Guodian Corporation expressed interest for cooperation on the wind and solar resources and sharing equipment for electric power facilities.
Chinese are also interested in construction of the airport in Trebinje. In fact, RS pointed out that they engaged in negotiations with a Chinese corporation interested in entering the project.
China Development Bank expressed its interest to finance its way in to the Serbian Nuclear power plant Belene in Bulgaria, but some other projects as well.
In Croatia, Chinese corporations are interested mainly in infrastructure such as the Port Rijeka - Ploce, Zagreb airport and railways Rijeka-Zagreb-Budimpesta. In the future, the countries aforementioned can expect immense entering of Chinese capital, experts confirm.
