The municipality of Bihac is focused on the development of spa tourism, especially in the local community Gata. "Spa Gata’s” thermal water has been used since the time of Roman Empire. The first written evidence dates back to the 18th century when the Ottoman empire used it too, mainly because of its healing properties.

The first buildings were small indoor and outdoor pools. Only in 1990 a modern facility was built and ever since the balneophysical treatments and physical rehabilitation have been practiced under the watchful eye of professionally trained staff.

In order to attract a large number of tourists, enthusiast of spa tourism, the municipality of Bihac expanded the spa offer , confirmed to our portal Amarildo Mulić, Chief Adviser at the City Hall.

“Construction of hotels, swimming pools and other related spa and sports activities are in the planning stage. Investors together with the Government of the USC and the Medical Institution `Spa - Gata` will invest in the construction, while the investment of local partners is mostly about the purchase of land, exploration of thermal water wells, infrastructure, "explains Mulić, stressing that the possible forms of cooperation are a joint venture , concessions and public - private partnership.

Estimated value of investment in this project is approximately 30 million EUR.

Thermal and mineral-enriched water at the Spa Gata other that its rehabilitation properties, provides the basis for development of health tourism, sport tourism, greenhouse agriculture and fish farming, development of entrepreneurship and many other forms that we can all benefit from.
