Jasmin Fazlagic, photographer - hunting for good shots

Jasmin Fazlagic, a photographer, master of artistic photography, hunter for good shots, was born in 1975 in Sarajevo. He started doing photography in 1996 by accident. He has been dating the daughter of Besim Hadzic, a famous master of photography who decided to transmit his knowledge to the then, twenty-years-old Jasmin.
The whole thing was a bit funny, since they improvised a setting in a bathroom and started practicing. Jasmin exhibited incredible talent, and he gets his first job as a photographer in 1996 at the Dnevni Avaz, where he spend three years, and starts his own photography business after that.
New deals followed with the Europa press, Novi list, Nacional, Dani, Gracija …
Dynamic work
He now works for himself, has his own studio and this is what he says : “Beeing photographer is hard. This is a dynamic line of work, includes a lot of field work so that I often say that my work day starts but it does not end. Deadline is everything”,

Criticism
He does not care about critiques. He is only interested in who is criticizing him.
“In our country the system of values is disturbed, everyone wants to talk about something they are not familiar with. I have no problems with critics. If someone who understands about photography makes a remark, then I accept it and it drives me to do a better job. Every well pointed and constructive piece of criticism is welcome,” he says.
He does not have a role model although he highly estimates some people and their work- people that are positive, promoting Bosnia with their good work.
“ I am talking about Damir Sagolj, reporter of Reuters that was awarded for his work several times, was everywhere around the globe, and nominated for Pulitzer and also Danilo Hrustanovic, a top photographer, then Almir Zrno, Savo Radovanovic, Vanja Lisac…, says Jasmin.
He is impressed with Africa, he says that it is a country he wants to see and visit, also Cuba with its world of non-western culture.
“I am also impressed with Jordan that I have already visited, where eastern culture overpowers the whole place, which is by far more exotic than any western city..”, he explains.
When he has time, he reads good books or watches movies, and one of the favorite ones is “Ovo malo duse”, a favorite book is by Remark “Love Thy Neighbor”, because it talks about the past that no longer exist, about honesty and love that today one cannot find anymore. Love between friends, a man and a woman today is a materialistic bond rather than anything else.
