Community pitching in: Sports and Recreational Resort in Vitez

The municipality of Vitez (the site of the former slaughterhouse on the right bank of Lasva River) is clearing ground to build a Sports and Recreation Resort, confirmed to eKapija.ba Stipo Lujic, vice president at the Organizing Committee for Construction.
A couple of citizens of Rijeka ten years ago, came up with the idea, and ever since have been waiting for the green light.
"Clearing the field is in the final stage with the concept and basic design already drafted. The Resort will have an artificial lake with the free water flow and natural (stone, gravel ...) filters, and all the facilities necessary for a fishing competition at the international level, "says Lujic, noting that next to the lake there will be a restaurant, clubs for sports fishermen, natural pathways, small sports field, locker rooms, beach volleyball, tennis courts, street chess board...
A swimming pool size 25x14, child pool size 10x6 meters and an amusement park, will also be present there. Expected value of the investment is about three million KM.
However, the municipality does not have the money yet, but as Lazic says, the important thing is that the project has started.
“Money will come. All the preparation works are being done thanks to the donations. Also, citizens will help taking money from they paychecks, retirement funds and veteran checks in the amount of 100 to 200 KM each to help the project.”, he says adding that the construction of the Resort will last roughly five years.
