"The European
Union is showing interest in the situation in BiH and is ready to be actively
involved in solving problems in BiH," said Deputy Minister
of Civil Affairs of BiH Senad Šepić in Brussels.
After
meeting with Eduard Kukan at the European Parliament Šepić stressed that this
year it is necessary for BiH to start with a new government and put European
issues on the agenda: "Unfortunately
we have lost 2011 through various inter-party and inter-entity disputes. We are
confident that everything will go faster and easier from the moment when we
form the new government and put European issues on the agenda of the Council of
Ministers."
The
European Parliament said again they want to see BiH progress towards Europe. To
that end, adoption and implementation of three key laws is expected: census,
state aid and solving the case Sejdić-Finci.
Member
of the European Parliament and the Chair of the Delegation for South-Eastern
Europe Eduard Kukan said that the fulfillment of these conditions can be
expected already in February, and therefore the beginning of European
integration of BiH at a faster pace, "There
is much good will here for BiH in the European Parliament. You have more
friends than you think you do. They would like to be of assistance and see BiH
side by side with other countries in the region."
While
in Brussels Croatia’s success toward the European integration is seen as an
incentive for other countries in the Western Balkans, Šepić adds that this
country’s progress has a positive effect on citizens in BH: "We all have to understand, primarily
politicians, that life goes on and that we are obliged to fulfill obligations
and enable BiH citizens to be part of the EU as soon as possible."
Although,
at this point Šepić "predicts" exactly when the new Minister of
Foreign Affairs will visit Brussels, he said it would be immediately after the
formation of the Council of Ministers, because Brussels is "one of the
most important destinations which BiH has."
